Burning Bright
by Karen

Willow had never woken up with a man in her bed before.  Of course, this technically wasn’t her bed.  It was Angelus’.  Still, it was odd to wake up in the vampire’s arms.  It was also very nice.  With a contented sigh, the redhead snuggled deeper into Angelus’ embrace and let her mind drift to the night before.  Drusilla had been a huge shock to her; she had never expected
to like her.  The redhead had never really thought about the lives... well, unlives, actually... that vampires led.  She had pretty much thought that it was ‘hunt, maim, kill, see you tomorrow night.’  But seeing Spike and Dru together... he was so obviously in love with her.  It was amazing.  And Spike himself.  He was just so damn funny.  Okay, so his jokes had some violent tendencies, but he was still hilarious.  Strange as it seemed, she had begun to like the blonde vampire.  Dru was her favorite of the two, though.  There was just something about her; she seemed almost like a child at times.  It was very difficult to keep in mind that she was a demon.

Willow shifted slightly and looked at the doll that was lying on the pillow next to her.  Dru had insisted that, because the warehouse was a new place to her, Willow should take the doll to sleep with.  The redhead smiled sleepily as she reached out to touch the doll’s delicate porcelain face.

“You’re awake,” the vampire said as he tightened his hold on her marginally.

Willow turned in Angelus’ arms and smiled at him.  “Good morning.”

“Afternoon, actually.”

Willow’s brow furrowed in momentary concern, then she shrugged. “Guess I missed school then.  Oh, well.  It’s not really a big deal.  I’m smarter than all the teachers anyway.”

The vampire smiled at her logic.  She was so adorable when she was only half-awake.  Of course, he thought she was adorable all the time.

“What about the Slayer?  Won’t she worry when you don’t show up for school?” he asked innocently.  At Willow’s skeptical look, he grinned.  “Pretend I care.”

“Screw the Slayer.”

“I already did.  It wasn’t an experience I’d care to repeat.”

The redhead sent a mock glare in Angelus’ direction and pushed herself away from him and off the bed.  The vampire’s grin grew as he looked at her.  She was wearing nothing but one of his silk shirts, and she looked beautiful.  She put her hands on her hips, making the shirt inch higher.

“That wasn’t funny.”

“Yes it was, and you know it,” he returned.

“Trouble in paradise?”

Both Willow and Angelus turned at the sound of Spike’s voice.  The blonde grinned when he saw Willow’s state of undress, then rolled inside the room.

“What do you want, Spike?”

Willow sent a stern look in Angelus’ direction, then smiled at Spike as she hopped up and sat on the edge of the bed.  “Hi, Spike.  What’s up?”

“Drusilla, actually.  She wants to play with her dolls again, and she’s asking for you.”

“Oh!”  Willow hopped off the bed, then turned to the dark haired vampire.  “You don’t mind if I go play with her, do you?”

Angelus grinned.  He couldn’t believe how quickly and easily Willow had opened herself up to the crazy vampire.  The girl just continued to amaze him.  “No, Willow, I don’t mind.  Although you might want to get dressed first.”

Willow blushed approximately the color of her hair as she looked down at herself and saw what she was wearing.  She couldn’t believe she’d let Spike see her like this.  With a quiet squeal, the redhead grabbed her jeans and dashed behind the chair in the corner to put them on.  When she was finished she gave Angelus a quick kiss and left the room with as much dignity as she
could muster.

Spike turned to his sire, a smirk on his face.  “I just keep liking that little girl more and more.  Can we keep her?”

“I hope so.”
